Interior Design Licensure Examination Results

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 57 out of 183 passed the Interior Designer Licensure Examination given by the Board of Interior Design in Manila this October 2006.

The members of the Board of Interior Design are Jose Ma. G. Hubilla, Chairman; Sonia S. Olivares and Antonio S. Adriano, Members.

The results were released in five (5) working days after the last day of examination.

New Architecture Dean gives Melbourne Model the ‘nod’

The University’s Melbourne Model approach to higher education delivery has won approval from the newly-appointed Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning.

Professor Thomas Kvan who will take up the post in late January 2007 says that if the architecture profession is to be able to challenge conventions, students need broad intellectual and cultural exposure while they are gaining skills related to the profession.

He points out that sustainability is as relevant as, for instance, development economics, business processes, sociology, or computing. Read more » »

Architecture Foundation HQ gets green light from planners

A striking new building for Southwark Street designed by Zaha Hadid has been granted planning permission by Southwark Council.

The Architecture Foundation’s new architecture centre will be located on the corner of Southwark Street and Great Guildford Street as part of Land Securities’ Bankside 123 development.

Architecture of the Future

he line between cutting-edge architecture and performance or installation art is not always clear. To what category does a building constructed out of empty wine bottles — stacked by a robot over a period of 10 years — belong? Or a tent-house, erected with energy harnessed from a Thai water buffalo? Architecture or punch line?

These projects –– only the latter of which came to fruition –– are part of an exhibition at the Frederieke Taylor gallery in Chelsea focusing on five architecture firms from New York, Paris, Rome, Berlin, and Ljubljana, Slovenia. While some of the designs may seem outré, the architects, all relatively young, are already stars in their field. Some have work in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
