City streets to become winter wonderland

With or without snow, downtown Adrian will be transformed into a winter wonderland of activities Saturday during WinterFest 2006.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., a slate of family attractions will operate in the city’s downtown district. The event kicks off with Santa’s Antler Amble Parade. It will travel from Toledo Street to North Main and then turn onto East Maumee Street. Santa and his entourage will stop at the Croswell Opera House, where representatives of the Adrian Area Chamber of Commerce will present St. Nick with the key to the city. Madison High School band performers will provide music and there will be a Christmas carol sing-a-long, too. Read more » »

While finishing touches are still being put on some displays, the Ralph Lauren showroom on the third floor of the International Design Center in Estero is now open for business.

Anyone is welcome to browse the high-end furniture and home accessory store. But customers will need an interior designer to buy, as sales are to the trade only.

Interior design industry enjoys ‘renaissance’

The office of new Nashville firm Interior Design & Architecture, located in a renovated space within the Bank of America Building downtown, resembles an art gallery more than a cube farm.

The moveable walls and patterned flooring are colorful and dynamic. Natural light permeates the office.

To the untrained eye, the space looks “cool.” But this style has substance behind it, and insiders say this type of design is on the cutting edge of architecture’s evolution.

Philippine Furniture, Design Exhibitors Join Mid-East Trade Expo

The Philippines’ fifth participation in Index Dubai, an annual trade expo in the Middle East for the furniture and interior design industry, generated a total of US$6.67 million in export sales, a 39 per cent increase from last year’s business deal of US$4.8 million, according to the Centre for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM).

The exhibition attracted thousands of trade visitors representing various sectors from interior design, furniture manufacturing, architecture, hotel/restaurant, government agencies and retail malls around the globe. 1,650 exhibitors from 57 countries participated in the show.
