K-12 Educational Facilities Design Award Winners Announced

Common design elements included drawing in natural light and easy-to clean surfaces.

The Boston Society of Architects and the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Architects recently held their third-annual K-12 Educational Facilities Design Awards, honoring outstanding public and private education projects.

A jury of industry professionals selected nine winners from 54 submissions. Jury members included Umberto Dindo AIA (Dindo Architect, New York City); Stuart Lesser AIA (Joslin, Lesser + Associates, Cambridge MA); Jennifer Marsh AIA (Mowery Marsh Architects, Hoboken NJ); and Jennifer Pinck (Pinck & Co., Boston).

Among the winning projects are an adapted warehouse, a ballet school, and a courtyard for an inner city school. Read more » »

Art Design Exhibitation : Christie’s Exhibits Staff Art

Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at international auction house Christie’s? Apparently, more art. Through August 22, “Insider Art” highlights work by more than 50 employees at Christie’s Rockefeller Center in New York.

The annual show, now in its seventh year, will showcase diverse mediums including paintings, photographs, ceramics, installations, sculpture and video art.

“Insider Art is…an exciting opportunity to connect with emerging artists before their work becomes the next record-breaking sale,” note auction house officials. Items will be on sale–often affordably–at the discretion of the artist.

An opening reception will be held August 2 at 5:30pm. Admission to the exhibit is free. Christie’s Rockefeller Center is located at 20 Rockefeller Plaza. Hours are Monday-Friday, 9:30am-5:30pm.

Building Design and Furniture Exhibitation In Lieu
