Home Decor Retailer Kirkland’s Inc. Sales Increase Furniture Product
Home decor retailer Kirkland’s Inc. said Friday it narrowed its fiscal first-quarter loss as results at mall stores improved.
The company’s loss for the quarter ended May 3, totaled $2.6 million, or 13 cents per share, compared with a loss of $7.5 million, or 38 cents per share last year.
Revenue rose 2 percent to $84.1 million from $82.3 million a year ago.
Same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least one year, rose 4.3 percent during the quarter, including a 9.3 percent rise at mall stores and a 2 percent rise at off-mall stores.
The company said shoppers have responded favorably to its merchandise mix and that shuttering underperforming stores helped results.
